Ms. Kristiansen is an English teacher at Abraham Lincoln High School. She started her teaching career at Lincoln in 2019 and as a creature of habit, hopes to stay here until retirement. She is medium good at a lot of things and an expert in nothing. The most important value she seeks to exude is kindness and understanding. Ms. K hopes that students leave her class with skills that improve their confidence in writing and reading. She also hopes that the scholars in her classroom seek to interrogate all forms of media as literate individuals. In the class, students use art, writing, and film as tools to be creative, critical, and compassionate thinkers. Her favorite things to teach are Shakespeare and books that have good movies attached to them. When she is not teaching she enjoys watching films and petting her dog Sarsaparilla.

“But I repeat my advice to those who would appreciate poetry, and unwind its difficult involutions. You must read, you must persevere, you must sit up nights, you must inquire, and exert the utmost power of your mind. If one way does not lead to the desired meaning, take another; if obstacles arise, then still another; until, if your strength holds out, you will find that clear which at first looked dark. For we are forbidden by divine command to give that which is holy to dogs, or to cast pearls before swine.” -Giovanni Boccaccio
